Avocado Cream Uses: Face, Neck, Hands, Heels and Where Not to Use It
The main avocado cream uses are as a night moisturiser for the face, a light morning cream under sunscreen, and a softening cream for the neck, hands, elbows, knees and dry heels. It works anywhere skin feels dry or tight. It isn't meant for lips, broken skin, the eyelids or babies.
Which jar you use matters, though. Some of our avocado creams have kojic acid and niacinamide, one has only avocado and aloe vera, and that changes where and when each one makes sense. Here's the use-by-use version.
On the face at night
This is what avocado cream is made for. After cleansing, a pea-sized amount pressed onto the cheeks, forehead and chin helps skin feel soft and moisturised by morning. Avocado oil is rich in fatty acids, which is why it suits skin that feels tight after a day in AC or a dusty commute.
If your cream has kojic acid and niacinamide, nights are also when those ingredients get time to work without sun on your face. Steady use, plus sunscreen every morning, can help skin look more even over 8 to 12 weeks. The method is in how to apply night cream.
In the morning, under sunscreen
A light avocado cream can go on in the morning too, as long as you follow it with sunscreen. Use a thin layer, wait a couple of minutes, then apply sunscreen generously.
Any cream with kojic acid needs sunscreen on top during the day, no exceptions. Kojic acid can make skin more sensitive to sun, and sun undoes the evening-out you're hoping for. The 15 g Glow Cream, with avocado and aloe vera only, is the easiest morning option. Sunscreen still goes on top, because every face in India needs it. More in our avocado day cream guide.
Avocado cream for neck
The neck is the most skipped part of most routines. It gets the same sun and pollution as the face, rubs against collars and dupattas, and often looks drier. Using avocado cream for neck care is simple: take whatever's left on your fingers after your face, add a tiny bit more, and smooth it upwards from the collarbone to the jaw.
Go gently. The skin there is thinner, and some people find it more reactive than their cheeks. If you're using a kojic acid cream, patch test on the neck first and wear sunscreen there in the day as well. Our night cream on neck guide covers it in detail, and dark neck skincare explains why a darker-looking neck sometimes needs a doctor's opinion, not just cream.
Dry hands, elbows and knees
Hard water, dishwashing, sanitiser and cold mornings leave hands rough fast. A little avocado cream rubbed into the backs of the hands and the knuckles before bed helps them feel softer. It's a good use for the last bit in a jar, too.
Elbows and knees get dry, rough and sometimes darker-looking from leaning and kneeling. Massage a small amount in after your bath, when the skin is still slightly damp. You'll need a bit more cream than for the face, because these areas are thicker and drink it up.
A practical tip: for hands and body, the richer 30 g Avocado Night Cream gives you the most cream for your money.
Heels that feel cracked in winter
In a Delhi or Lucknow winter, heels can get so dry they feel rough and split. Avocado cream helps as a moisturiser here, not as a fix for deep cracks.
- Soak your feet in warm water for five minutes.
- Pat them dry, leaving them slightly damp.
- Massage a small scoop of cream into the heels.
- Pull on cotton socks and leave them on overnight.
If a crack is deep, bleeding, painful or looks infected, don't put cream into it. Diabetics in particular should show any foot crack to a doctor. Our avocado cream in winter guide has more cold-weather ideas.
After waxing or threading
Freshly threaded brows or a waxed upper lip are warm, red and quick to sting. Skip creams with kojic acid on those spots for a day or two. A plain, gentle cream is better, and among ours that's the 15 g Avocado Glow Cream with avocado and aloe vera only. Once the redness has gone, go back to your usual cream. The full plan is in night cream after waxing or threading.
Where not to use avocado cream
- Lips. Face creams aren't made to be swallowed, and kojic acid has no business on your lips. Use a lip balm.
- Broken skin. Cuts, open cracks, active rashes, burns or peeling sunburn. Let them settle first.
- Inside the eye area. Keep to the bony ridge around the eye (the orbital bone). Not on eyelids, not close to the lash line. See avocado cream under eyes.
- Babies and young children. Their skin needs products made for them.
- Areas with a prescription cream. If a doctor has given you a cream for an area, ask before adding anything else.
Honest note: if what you really need is a body lotion for your whole body every day, a face cream jar isn't the right buy. It's fine for small dry spots, but it'll run out fast.
Avocado cream uses: which jar for which, and how long it lasts
| Use | Best jar | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Face at night | Avocado Korean Night Cream (25 g, ₹649) | Medium texture that suits most skin |
| Morning under sunscreen | Avocado Glow Cream 15g (₹399) or Glow Cream 10 g (₹349) | Light layers that sit well under sunscreen |
| Neck, hands, elbows, heels | Avocado Night Cream (30 g, ₹649) | Richest, best value per gram |
| After waxing or threading | Avocado Glow Cream 15g | No kojic acid, no niacinamide |
Used once a night on the face only, a 30 g jar lasts about 6 to 8 weeks and a 25 g jar about 5 to 6 weeks. Add the neck and hands most nights and that roughly halves. If heels and elbows join in, you might finish a 30 g jar in three to four weeks. Many people keep one jar for the face and one cheaper, richer jar on the bedside table for hands and feet.
