Avocado Day Cream: How to Use It in the Morning

Most avocado creams are sold as night creams, so people often ask whether they can use avocado cream in the day as well. You can. An avocado day cream simply needs to be lighter, go on in a thinner layer, and always sit under sunscreen. Here is how to choose one, how to use it in the morning, and how it differs from an avocado night cream.

What is an avocado day cream?

An avocado day cream is a moisturiser made with avocado that is light enough to wear under sunscreen and make-up. Avocado gives skin a soft, comfortable feel, which helps on mornings when your face feels tight after washing. A day cream is usually thinner than a night cream, because it has to sit on your skin through heat, sweat and sun rather than overnight on a pillow.

Avocado day cream vs avocado night cream

Many people use both: a light avocado cream in the morning and a richer avocado night cream before bed. Our Day and Night Cream Combo pairs exactly these two.

Who should use an avocado day cream?

  • Dry or tight-feeling skin: a thin layer each morning keeps skin comfortable through the day.
  • Normal skin: use it in winter or in air-conditioned offices, and skip it on very humid days if your sunscreen is moisturising enough.
  • Combination skin: apply it to the cheeks and only a trace on the forehead and nose.
  • Oily skin: you may not need a separate day cream. A light gel moisturiser or a moisturising sunscreen is often enough.

How to use avocado cream in the morning

  1. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water.
  2. Pat dry, leaving skin very slightly damp.
  3. Apply a small amount, smaller than a pea, and spread it thinly over the face and neck.
  4. Wait two minutes so it settles.
  5. Apply sunscreen generously as the last step. This matters even more if your cream contains kojic acid.

If your face looks shiny by noon, you used too much. Halve the amount the next day.

Avocado day cream in Indian weather

Summer and monsoon: heat and humidity make rich creams feel heavy. Use the thinnest layer, or only on dry areas. Winter: skin dries faster, so a slightly fuller layer in the morning helps. Air-conditioned offices: AC pulls moisture from skin all day, so dry-skinned office workers benefit most from a morning avocado cream.

Can I use avocado night cream as a day cream?

Yes, if you use a much thinner layer and put sunscreen on top. A rich night cream can feel greasy in the daytime, though, especially in humid cities. A lighter avocado cream made for daytime is usually more comfortable.
