Avocado Cream vs Vitamin C Cream: What Each Does and How to Pair Them

Avocado cream vs vitamin C cream isn't really a contest, because they're good at different things. Vitamin C is a morning antioxidant for a fresher, brighter-looking face. Avocado cream is about moisture and comfort, and it does its best work at night.

So the useful question is less "which one?" and more "which one first, and when?" Below is how each behaves, who should start where, and a simple way to use both without irritating your skin.

What vitamin C does in skincare

Vitamin C is one of the best-known antioxidants in skincare. On the face, it's used to help skin look brighter and more even, and to support your sunscreen against the daily stress of sun and city pollution. That's why most people put it on in the morning. It doesn't replace sunscreen. It works alongside it.

It also has a few habits worth knowing before you buy any vitamin C product:

  • It can tingle. Pure forms of vitamin C are acidic, and a light sting for a few seconds is common, especially on dry or freshly shaved skin. Burning, redness that stays, or itching is not normal. Wash it off.
  • It oxidises. Air, light and heat break it down. A serum that has turned dark yellow, orange or brown has lost much of its point.
  • Storage matters in India. Don't keep it on a sunny windowsill or in a hot bathroom next to the geyser. A cool, dark shelf, cap tightly closed, is better. Buy small sizes you'll finish in a couple of months.
  • Introduce it slowly. Patch test on the side of your neck for a day or two, then use it every second morning for the first two weeks, then daily if your skin is happy.

What avocado cream does

Avocado gives a cream natural oils and a soft, cushiony feel. On the skin, that means moisture that stays put, less tightness after washing and a smoother feel by morning. It's the cream you reach for when the AC has been on all day, or when a Bengaluru winter morning leaves your cheeks rough.

Avocado isn't an "active" in the way vitamin C is. It doesn't tingle and it doesn't need the same careful storage. Ours do contain other ingredients though: the Avocado Night Cream and Avocado Korean Night Cream also have niacinamide and kojic acid, which is why we still ask for sunscreen every morning. How to pair them: a simple day and night routine

This is the pairing we suggest to most people. Vitamin C in the morning, avocado at night. They never have to share the same layer, so there's less chance of irritation.

Morning

  1. Rinse or wash with a gentle face wash.
  2. A few drops of vitamin C serum, or a thin layer of vitamin C cream. Let it sink in for a minute.
  3. A light moisturiser if your skin feels dry. Oily skin in Chennai heat can often skip this.
  4. Sunscreen, two finger-lengths for face and neck. Reapply if you're out in the sun.

Night

  1. Wash off sunscreen and dust properly. Double cleanse if you wore make-up.
  2. A pea-sized amount of avocado night cream, warmed between your fingers and pressed on.
  3. Give it ten minutes before your face meets the pillow.

If sunscreen plus night cream is the part that confuses you, our Hindi guide sunscreen aur night cream kaise use kare walks through it step by step.

An honest note: we don't sell a vitamin C cream

We should say this plainly. Mirc Glow doesn't make a standalone vitamin C cream or serum. If you want a dedicated morning vitamin C, you'll need to buy it elsewhere, and that's fine.

What we do have is our Glutathione Cream (30 g, ₹1,499), which contains vitamin C alongside glutathione, kojic acid, niacinamide and aloe vera. It's a radiance-focused cream for a brighter, more radiant-looking finish, and most people use it at night. It isn't a substitute for a morning vitamin C serum, and we won't pretend it is. If you already use a vitamin C serum in the morning, Glutathione Cream can go on at night, but introduce one product at a time, two weeks apart. Our glutathione vs vitamin C guide explains how the two differ, and night cream with vitamin C covers using it in the evening.

Which should you start with?

Start with avocado cream if your skin feels dry, tight or flaky, or if you don't use any moisturiser yet. Comfortable skin handles actives better, so it's the sensible first step. Start with vitamin C if your skin already feels fine but looks tired, and you're ready to wear sunscreen daily.

Who should go slow with vitamin C: anyone with very sensitive or eczema-prone skin, or skin that's currently red and peeling. Calm it first. And if you have melasma, spreading patches or painful acne, see a dermatologist before adding anything.

Which avocado cream to pair with vitamin C

  • Avocado Night Cream, 30 g, ₹649. Our richest. Best for dry skin and winter nights, and the best value per gram.
  • Avocado Korean Night Cream, 25 g, ₹649. Creamy and softer, our main pick for most skin types.
  • Avocado Glow Cream 15g, ₹399. Just avocado and aloe vera. The gentlest choice if your skin is already busy getting used to vitamin C.

Short answers

Can I use vitamin C and avocado cream together? Yes. The easiest way is vitamin C in the morning under sunscreen and avocado cream at night.

Can I put avocado cream on top of vitamin C in the morning? You can, as long as you wait a minute between them and finish with sunscreen. Choose a lighter avocado cream for daytime.

Why does my vitamin C serum sting? A mild tingle is common. If it burns or leaves redness, wash it off, use it less often, or stop.

My vitamin C has turned brown. Is it still okay? It has oxidised and won't do much. Replace it, and store the next one somewhere cool and dark.

Does Mirc Glow sell a vitamin C cream? Not a standalone one. Our Glutathione Cream contains vitamin C as one of several ingredients.
