Night Cream for Combination Skin in Winter: How to Adjust Your Routine

Winter changes combination skin. Cheeks get drier and tighter, while the forehead, nose and chin can still feel oily. You do not need two creams. You need a small adjustment to how much you use and where you use it.

What changes in winter

Cold, dry air and indoor heating pull water out of the skin. The cheeks, which are already the drier zone, can feel tight or flaky. The T-zone often slows down but rarely goes fully dry. That is why one heavy cream all over can make the T-zone congested, while a light cream may not be enough for the cheeks.

The winter zone method

  1. Cleanse with lukewarm water. Hot water strips the skin and makes dryness worse.
  2. Apply your night cream to the cheeks first. Press in a pea-sized amount.
  3. Add a thin second layer to dry cheeks. Only if they still feel tight after a few minutes.
  4. Use the leftover on the T-zone. That is enough for the forehead, nose and chin.
  5. Keep lips and the sides of the nose in mind. A tiny extra dot helps if they flake.

Mirc Glow options

For most combination skin, the Avocado Korean Night Cream (25 g, ₹649) has a medium texture with niacinamide that suits both zones. If your cheeks are very dry in winter, the richer Avocado Night Cream (30 g, ₹649) can go on the cheeks only. Always patch test first, using our guide on how to patch test a face cream.

Winter mistakes to avoid

  • Switching to a very thick cream for the whole face.
  • Hot showers and hot face washes.
  • Skipping sunscreen because the sun feels weaker.
  • Exfoliating more often than twice a week.
