How to Use Glutathione Cream: A Step-by-Step Routine
A jar of glutathione cream is not complicated. You put it on your face at night. Still, how to use glutathione cream properly comes down to a few small things, and they decide whether the jar earns its place on your shelf: when you apply it, how much, and what goes on before and after.
Here is the whole routine.
When to apply it
At night, as your last step. Your skin is clean, there is no sunscreen or make-up on it, and the cream can sit there undisturbed until morning. You can use it in the daytime as well, but keep the layer thin and always put sunscreen over it.
How to use glutathione cream, step by step
- Cleanse. A gentle face wash is enough. If you wore sunscreen or make-up, wash twice.
- Pat, don't rub. Leave your skin a little damp.
- Thin things first. If you use a toner or a light serum, it goes on now. Give it a minute.
- Then the cream. Take a pea-sized amount, warm it between your fingertips and press it over your face and neck. Keep it away from your eyes.
- Sunscreen in the morning. This is part of the routine, not an extra.
How much?
A pea for the face, and a little more for the neck. Doubling the amount will not double the result. It will just empty the jar sooner and leave your skin feeling heavy.
How often?
Every second night for the first two weeks. If your skin is happy, move to every night and stay there. The results come from doing it daily, so once you are settled, try not to skip.
Patch test before the first use
Dab a little behind your ear or on your inner arm and leave it for 24 hours. No redness or itching means you are good to go.
What goes well with it
- Sunscreen. Every morning, without fail.
- A gentle cleanser. Anything that leaves your face squeaky is too harsh.
- A hydrating toner or serum. Hyaluronic acid sits nicely underneath.
- A richer cream on top, if you are dry. Our Avocado Night Cream works well layered over it, or on alternate nights.
What to keep apart
While your skin is still getting used to the cream, do not use strong exfoliating acids, scrubs or retinoids on the same night. Once things have settled, bring them back on alternate nights.
5 mistakes we would steer you away from
- No sunscreen. The single biggest reason people see nothing.
- Cream over an unwashed face.
- Too much product.
- Quitting after two weeks. It needs eight to twelve. See how long glutathione cream takes to work.
- Swapping products every week. Give one routine long enough to judge it.
Can you use it on the body?
Yes. Neck, hands, elbows, knees. Just remember that a face cream comes in a small jar, and it will not last long spread over large areas.
Storing the jar
Close the lid tightly. Keep it away from heat and sunlight, which in an Indian summer means not on the bathroom windowsill. Use clean, dry fingers, and check the use-before date on the pack.
