Glass Skin Routine for Indian Skin: 6 Simple Steps
Most glass skin routines you find online were written for Seoul. They assume cold, dry winters and skin that wants layer upon layer of moisture. Try the same thing in a Chennai summer and you will feel sticky by nine in the morning.
A glass skin routine for Indian skin keeps the same goal, smooth and hydrated skin that catches the light, but takes a lighter route and pays far more attention to the sun. Here it is in six steps.
What glass skin really means
It is a Korean term for skin that looks clear, even and so well hydrated that it seems to glow. It describes how healthy the skin looks. It has nothing to do with skin colour, and every skin tone can have it.
Why India needs its own version
- The sun is stronger. It is intense all year, and it is the main reason skin tone looks uneven.
- Humidity and sweat. Thick layers that feel lovely in a Korean winter feel heavy in the monsoon.
- Pollution. City dust settles on your face all day, so the evening wash matters more.
- Hard water. In many cities, tap water leaves skin feeling tight.
The 6-step glass skin routine for Indian skin
1. Double cleanse at night
An oil cleanser or balm first, to lift off sunscreen and grime. Then a gentle face wash. In the morning, a light wash or just water will do.
2. A hydrating toner
Pat a watery, alcohol-free toner into damp skin. One layer in humid months. Two thin ones in winter.
3. One light serum
Pick one for your main goal: hyaluronic acid for hydration, niacinamide for a smooth look, or vitamin C in the morning for radiance. One is enough.
4. Moisturise
A light cream by day. A richer one at night to hold everything in. Our Avocado Korean Night Cream is made for that last evening step.
5. Sunscreen, every morning
If you remember only one step, make it this one. Broad-spectrum, SPF 30 or more, and reapply if you are outdoors. There is no glass skin without it.
6. Gentle exfoliation, once a week
A mild exfoliant clears away dull surface cells. Leave the harsh scrubs alone. They irritate skin and can make it look more uneven.
Your morning, in order
- Rinse or cleanse lightly.
- Toner.
- Serum, if you use one.
- A light moisturiser, such as the Avocado Glow Nourishing Skin Cream.
- Sunscreen.
Your night, in order
- Oil cleanse, then face wash.
- Toner.
- Serum, if you use one.
- Night cream, last.

Changing with the seasons
- Summer. Fewer layers and smaller amounts. Save the rich cream for night.
- Monsoon. Cleanse well and keep the cream thin. Put it where your skin is dry.
- Winter. Add a second layer of toner and use a full pea of night cream, neck included.
5 things that get in the way
- Skipping sunscreen because it is cloudy.
- Washing your face too often.
- Scrubbing hard to get rid of a tan.
- Starting several active ingredients at once.
- Giving up after a fortnight. Allow six to eight weeks.
The boring things that help
Enough water, enough sleep, and a clean pillowcase each week. None of them replaces skincare, but all of them support it.
